Lora Garrett is a bookkeeper, tax preparer and founding member of Common Good Bookkeeping Cooperative where she manages the day to day operations. She enjoys helping people to navigate the necessary financial tasks required to make their personal and business visions a reality.
Before working for the co-op full time, Lora co-owned a local food cart and restaurant, as well as an investment property with her husband. She became involved with cooperative economics via the Humans United in Mutual Aid Network Cooperative in 2015 helping with bookkeeping and managing events. In 2016, with the help of MadWorC and MCDC, she helped to form CGBC.
Lora trained and has worked as a tax preparer since 1996. After working as a self-taught bookkeeper and business owner for 10 years, she attended real estate and accounting classes at Madison College where she earned an associates degree.
Originally from the east coast, Lora has called Dane County home since 1977 and has raised two daughters here. She currently lives in Madison with her husband, mother and two dogs. When she isn’t working, she enjoys sleeping.
